Short Hair Styles

Where did the short hair style come from? I remember about 20 years ago, is it possible that I'm that old, that the short hair style came into the mainstream with full force. I remember when MTV started and how many of the artists had short hair styles. It seems like every rock star had short hair on stage, or just wasn't cool.

But then something happened. It was in for a long time, and then all of a sudden, it went away. Seems like the short hair styles just went away as fast as they came into our field of vision. They were gone from MTV and from the corporate design rooms. Most of all they were gone from the fashion runways.

It's a funny thing with fads like this. After they are gone, people REALLY make fun of them like they are the ugliest thing ever. They swing into VERY unfavorbable territory. And short hair styles were no exception. People made fun of them. In the early 90's, anything 80's was really uncool. It was made fun of. On Saturday Night Live you would see someone with a short hair style as a character of the 80's.

So then what happened? Well, after 2000, the 80's started to seem cool again. I guess they turned 20 years old and it was not a great idea to be "retro". Short hair styles were right in there with them. They went from "out of date" to "retro cool". And a fashion resurgence was born.
